Parish Ministry – Exaltación de la Santa Cruz, Chipiriri
Following the Maryknoll spirit to go to places in serious need of mission, Father Charles Ogony, M.M., and Father Joshua Mutende, M.M., have taken on leadership as shepherds of Exaltación de la Santa Cruz parish in Chipiriri, Bolivia.
While the former pastor there did what he could as far as outreach, limited resources prevented him from reaching the nine communities within 40 kilometers from the parish center. This led to the abandonment of five chapels. The parish is located in the Chapare Deanery, which includes a community of religious sisters (Catechists Sisters of the Sacred Heart) who will assist with catechesis, minister to those in the hospital, provide lunch programs for youth and help with some parish operations.
Fathers Charles and Joshua plan to reach out to the mission communities nearby of San Francisco, Villa Nueva, Villa Cinco, Villa Catorce, San Miguel and other communities they are yet to encounter with the goal of reaching out to all families and building a synodal church.
