Fathers Joshua Maondo and Charles Ogony were ordained on June 8 at Maryknoll\u2019s Our Lady Queen of Apostles Chapel in Ossining, New York. While ordinations are already joyous occasions, the presence of the two men\u2019s Kenyan compatriots lent an especially festive character to the day. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/carrying-the-flag-of-mission-a-new-era-of-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">celebration was enlivened<\/a> by singing and dancing to irresistible East African rhythms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following our ordination story, Father Joseph Veneroso writes in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/spirit-of-mission-healing-from-the-sacred-heart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spirit of Mission<\/a> column about Jesus as a wounded healer. He sets the theme for the rest of this issue, in which we focus on mission stories of healing and caregiving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From Bolivia, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/being-there-a-brother-in-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brother Ryan Thibert tells us of his ministry<\/a> as a brother to neglected, abused and orphaned children and to 50 residents at a home for the abandoned elderly. <a href=\"https:\/\/mklm.org\/bolivia\/jhon-alex-walks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Filo Siles and Joe Loney<\/a>, a Maryknoll lay missioner couple also in Bolivia, focus on health, education, social inclusion and economic sustenance for almost 800 children, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/challenging-assumptions-in-bolivia-joe-loney-filo-siles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">youths, adults and seniors with disabilities<\/a>. Maryknoll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/bridges-to-healing-international\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Affiliates member Erin Rickwa<\/a> writes about her nonprofit organization, which recently expanded to Tanzania, that provides grants for health care for sick and disabled children. Other articles describe the decades of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/the-trauma-of-memory-and-recalling-chiles-dictatorship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recovery from the trauma of a coup in Chile<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryknollmagazine.org\/2024\/09\/partners-in-mission-healing-with-art\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">healing through art at a Maryknoll<\/a>-run AIDS clinic in Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As newly ordained Father Maondo says, the world needs healing, and \u201cthat\u2019s what mission is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><em>Lynn F.
